The Biden administration on Friday announced plans to use the Defense Production Act to increase supplies for the manufacture of The Covid-19 vaccine from Pfizer Inc. and to increase the availability of virus testing at home.
Priority ratings will give Pfizer first access to raw materials, which will allow the company to increase manufacturing and meet its delivery goals, Tim Manning, Covid-19’s supply coordinator, said in a briefing from the company. White House.
Six new companies will also increase production testing at home to make more than 60 million such tests available in the summer, according to Manning.
“This equates to the first sequence of actions under the Defense Production Act that we have conducted under the Biden administration over the past two weeks,” Manning said. The Trump administration had used the DPA frequently throughout its response to the pandemic.
The ads also included news from one investment in domestic production of surgical gloves and plans to send 1,000 military to support state vaccination sites.
