The right of the Parents of San Diego Joe Musgrove threw a no-hits game in the 3-0 win over the Texas Rangers at Arlington’s Goble Life Stadium on Friday.
Puerto Rican receiver Victor Caratini was part of the story in receiving Musgrove’s submissions. Last year, the Cayeyano was behind the plate when Alec Mills threw a hit-free game for the Chicago Cubs on September 13th.
The Parents were the only active MLB franchise without a hit-free game, and came in their 8th game in the regular season.

“It’s amazing to have him in the Parents’ uniform, ”said Musgrove, a San Diego native. “Being the first in the franchise’s history is amazing.”
In just his second start with San Diego, Musgrove (2-0) struck out at 10 and faced 28 batters, one above the minimum.
The only Rangers-based runner-up was Joey Gall, who was hit by a two-out pitch in the fourth inning.
“There were like three different scenarios where I thought I had lost it,” Musgrove said.
Musgrove, who pitched 77 of his 112 strikeouts, is in his sixth season in the Major Leagues. He previously pitched for Houston (2016-17) and Pittsburgh (2018-20) and had never pitched a full game in his previous 84 openings.
“I’m fucking exhausted, man,” he admitted.
It was the first game without hits in the Majors this season and only the second full game.
In his debut with San Diego as a local last Saturday, he poncho to eight in six blank innings against Arizona. He had no tickets to win this game, when he threw 57 of 78 shots on strike.
It was the fourth time a hit-free game was thrown against the Rangers. The last one was by Mark Buehrle of the Chicago White Sox on April 18, 2007.
According to Baseball-Reference, there were 307 hit-free games in MLB history before Musgrove and the Parents. This included 293 games without individual hits and 14 games without combined numbers.
