Joey Votto converts the triple play against Cleveland

You don’t see it every day.

In the eighth inning of Saturday’s game against Cleveland, Reds reliever Amir Garrett gave up on individual singles that put runners in the corners with no exits. Josh Naylor followed with a ball at first base, where Joey Votto threw the ball and scored to Franmil Reyes. Thinking the ball hit the ground first, Eddie Rosario went home while Votto held the ball and waited.

Votto threw the ball to third base, where Rosario was out for a triple play. It was the 31st triple play in Reds history and the first in Cincinnati since Todd Frazier completed the feat on July 25, 2017 at Yankee Stadium.

Votto roared with excitement as the crowd at the Great American Ball Park came to life to show their approval.
