Jonathan dos Santos considered retiring during the 2020 season

The 2020 Major League Soccer season also left a bitter taste in the mouth for Jonathan dos Santos. The Mexican midfielder saw the Galaxy fail in the attempt to reach the playoffs and, combined with the collective misstep, an injury left him sidelined for much of the calendar, cut due to the pandemic of coronavirus.

The clouds of 2020 caused the word ‘retreat’ to furrow Jonathan’s mind.

“Yeah, the truth is, yes,” Dos Santos said on ESPN’s show, ‘Now or Never,’ when asked expressly about whether he thought about quitting professional football.

“It’s been one of the worst injuries I’ve had in my entire career, more than my knee injury, because with that injury I never knew at what point I was going to feel one hundred percent, it’s an injury that can last with discomfort for a year or two, depending on each person’s body, and yes I had a really bad time last year.

“Besides, I wasn’t with my family, I was without playing for a while, when I played again I felt discomfort, I played and trained with a lot of discomfort, I wasn’t one hundred percent, I said, it was one of the more complicated years of my entire career “.
