Milwaukee – Puerto Rican right-hander José Berríos was flawless in his first outing of the season with the Minnesota Twins after throwing six hits without hits against the Milwaukee Brewers, who also had a no-hits game until the jewel of Corbin Burnes finished in seventh with a lone homer.
Minnesota won the game 2-0 at Miller Park after extending the game without hits until the eighth inning with the bullpen, which only conceded an undisputed to support the great work of the boricua.
It was the first time the pitchers faced each other in six unstoppable innings since Jake Peavy of the San Francisco Giants and Jacob deGrom of the New York Mets did so on August 2, 2014. Both received hits in the seventh episode.
Berríos, a 26-year-old from Bayonne in his sixth season with the Twins, finished with 12 strikeouts, one ball and no bases per ball in 84 pitches. He hit Kolten Wong to finish sixth, and his 12 winds equaled a personal best, against Texas on June 24, 2018.
Burnes allowed a home run with an out to Byron Buxton in the seventh on his 87th throw and was withdrawn just after with the score 1-0. The right struck at 11.

Minnesota’s last hit-free game was released by Francisco Lira on May 3, 2011 at the White Sox in Chicago. The franchise has never released a game without combined hits.
The closest the teams were to a hit from the start was in the third inning when Milwaukee’s Orlando Arcia connected a long high that Buxton caught on the center field wall.
This is the fifth game of Burnes’ career with at least 10 strikeouts. It is the tenth double-digit strikeout game for Berríos.
Burnes went 4-1 with a 2.11 ERA last season and finished sixth in the National League’s Cy Young Award voting. Berríos had a sheet of 5-4 with an effectiveness of 4.00.
