The Angels have reached an agreement with the left José Quintana in a $ 8 million one-year deal, a source told MLB.com’s Mark Feinsand. Los Angeles has not confirmed the deal, which is pending the realization of a physicist.

Quintana, 31, is entering his 10th season in the Major League after past seasons with the White Sox and Cubs. The Southpaw appeared in just four games (and only one start) in 2020 after his left thumb was torn at the start of Summer Camp, an injury that required surgery. Prior to that, Quintana was a quality starter for both Chicago clubs, making at least 30 outings each year since 2013-19.

Quintana, who will be reunited with former Cubs director Joe Maddon in Anaheim, has a career history of 83 to 77 with an ERA of 3.73.

The Angels will expect Quintana’s addition to add a stabilizing force to a rotation that needs just that. The addition of quality starters was a task that topped the new general manager’s off-season to-do list, Perry Minasian, after the rotation of the Halos released the second worst ERA in the Majors in 2020 On the 19th, Los Angeles only saw one pitcher (Trevor Cahill) throw even 100 innings.
