As the Patriots get the Bills ready for Monday night, there’s a player on Buffalo’s roster who would help New England right away. Quarterback Josh Allen would be that guy, and he’s slowly but steadily becoming one of the best young quarterbacks in the NFL.
Allen has had a trio of good games, most recently against the Denver Broncos on Dec. 19. With a 70% completion percentage, Allen threw for 359 yards and two touchdowns. Those numbers were an improvement from the previous week against the Steelers, when Allen threw 238 yards, two touchdowns and an interception. Perhaps his best game of the month was against the San Francisco 49ers. He threw 375 yards and four touchdowns, and Buffalo was able to defeat San Francisco.
Right now, Allen is going all out for him. The third-year quarterback has managed to hone his skills and has made them really work in his favor. One of the things that was a blow against him when he left college was the strength of his arm. Sometimes he put too much force on football and this would cause his throws to be uneven.
However, he managed to take advantage and certainly improved his touch when throwing the ball. In addition to his accuracy, he gets football out of his hands quickly, which is great news for a receiver like Stefon Diggs. Diggs can make things happen after capture and it does so easily.
Allen would be a perfect fit for the Patriots as they find themselves in unfamiliar territory with a difficult quarterback situation. Allen is young enough to be a good quarterback to build. He also has enough experience not to make poor mistakes. In addition, the 68.7% completion percentage is the sixth in all of football. Right now, the Patriots don’t have a quarterback so accurately.
Allen would be perfect for the Patriots, as he would give them a young gunman for the future. That’s exactly what they need right now, and they could bring stability and enough play to the position.
