LOS ANGELES.- Mexican Julio Uries tolerated the first home run of the season by Dominican Juan Soto, but was able to control enough for the Los Angeles Dodgers to defeat the Washington Nationals 9-5.
Uries (2-0) threw five innings and two thirds and tolerated three runs, including Soto’s lone volley, with an out in the sixth inning, and the Dodgers won their second game in a row.
Soto took it out again in the ninth inning with Trea Turner at base, to end his first two homers of the campaign and also pushed 3 p.m.
Patrick Corbin (0-1) had a poor season debut, with four innings and a third of work in which he allowed six runs.
Chris Taylor connected on a three-run homer and AJ Pollock also produced three laps, for the Dodgers.
For the Nationals, Soto went 5-2, with two home runs, 3-pointers, three rebounds, while Victor Robles went 5-1.
