ROME – Juventus confirmed on Wednesday that they have exercised the option to buy permanently the American midfielder Weston McKennie, incorporated as a transfer in the last summer market, so he will pay $ 22,290,000 to the German Schalke 04.
The agreement also provides for the payment of another $ 7,800,000 in the event that certain sporting goals are met, the Turin team said in an official statement.
McKennie, who became an element of great importance in the balances of Andrea Pirlo’s team, signed a contract until June 30, 2025.
This season, the 22-year-old American midfielder played 30 games and scored five goals, four in Serie A and one in the Champions League in the 3-0 victory at Barcelona.
The relationship between McKennie and a Schalke 04 that is sinking in the Bundesliga, in which he is nine points away from salvation, after winning just one game in 23 games, is finally over.
