Kansas City Royals changes OF Mike Heath to Arizona Diamondbacks for minor league pitcher

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Kansas City Royals traded outfielder Nick Heath, who had been designated for his assignment earlier this week, to the Arizona Diamondbacks for minor league pitcher Eduardo Herrera on Saturday.

Heath, 27, a speedster with a bat streak, has been on the verge of becoming the Royals ’major league club in recent years. He finally made his debut last year, participating in 15 games in the reduced season in Kansas City.

However, with an oversupply of outside players, the Royals decided to change Heath for extra bullpen depth.

Herrera, 21, signed with Arizona as an international free agent in 2016. He began his career as a receiver and football field, but turned to pitching two years ago with promising results. He still has to pass class A.
