KDHE issued its weekly COVID cluster report

TOPEKA, Canada (WIBW) – The number of active COVID clusters in the state’s K-12 to 12 schools tripled over the past week, according to a weekly update from the Kansas Department of Health and Environment.

Information released Wednesday shows a total of 172 active clusters in Kansas, up from 151 last week. Among them, 25 are in kindergartens and represent 136 cases; 21 are in K schools at 12, with 114 cases. Last week, KDHE reported seven active school clusters.

Only two are identified. KDHE only publicly names sites considered exhibition venues, meaning they have had five or more cases in the previous 14 days. The two schools considered exhibition locations are Mount Olive Lutheran School in Overland Park and $ 405 Central Elementary in Lyons.

Exhibition locations in Topeka include the Brighton Place West Retirement Home, the Kansas Neurological Institute, and the Kansas Youth Correctional Complex.

In total, KDHE has been showing 4,195 new cases of COVID since Monday.
