“It’s minority-owned companies that have been hardest hit by the majority because of an invisible virus because of it,” Kemp told an Atlanta restaurant, The Associated Press reported.
The restaurant is close to Truist Park, where the game of stars was initially planned.
“And these are the same minority companies that are now affected by another decision that is not their own fault,” he added.
The MLB moved the game in Denver, Colorado, on Tuesday in protest of a new voting law in Georgia that Democrats and critics say supposes the suppression of voters and is aimed specifically at communities of color.
Kemp signed the legislation late last month behind closed doors.
The new law tightens restrictions on ballot boxes, sets out identification requirements for voting by absence, and makes the distribution of water or food to people queuing a crime.
However, Kemp said people should not worry about politics when participating in a baseball game.

Former Georgia candidate for governor and voting rights activist Stacey Abrams, instat the MLB does not move the state game for fear of losing jobs.
“As I have stated, I respect the boycotts, although I do not want to see Georgia families injured by lost events and jobs,” Abrams said. “Georgians subject to voter suppression will be harmed as opportunities shift to other states.”
Kemp has done this before defended the law and said it is worth boycotting his state.
“Free and fair elections are the foundation of what we are as a state and as a nation. Safe, accessible and fair elections are worthwhile. Boycotts and lawsuits are worth it, ”Kemp said.
