Beings

Jaleel White, a comedy star from the comedy itself Family matters, is moderating the press conference. White has worked with Shakman in the past. It presents the panel. White begins with Olsen, asking to work in front of a live audience.

“It was the first one we shot. It was so nervous and there was a lot of adrenaline, a lot of quick changes and it totally confused my brain,” he said. “I was so grateful when we added the fourth wall!” It took a minute to understand how not to act for the audience but to feed on their energy. “I think it was a fusion of Mary Tyler Moore and Elizabeth Montgomery and I think I threw a little bit of Lucy in the ’70s because there was a good physical comedy.”

What keeps the vision honest at all times?

“It’s always been something else. It’s JARVIS, it’s Ultron, it’s Tony Stark. It’s omnipotent,” Bettany explains. “It’s so naive … I realized I’d just throw in a little bit of Dick van Dyke, a little bit of Hugh Laurie … I think what Vision is is decent and honorable and exists for Wanda.” The vision needs “a lot of wigs,” to blend in with the community.

Has Hahn ever had a naughty neighbor as his character?

“We had a neighbor who was very similar, so he would also show up without warning,” Hahn says.

Ask Parris about Monica Rambeau as a character.

“Basically, a WandaVision, we pick up who she is now as an adult woman. Throughout the show, we find the discomfort of what he has been doing, of what has happened to him in this gap, “Rambeau said.” We’ll see Monica join Carol Danvers, Captain Marvel, and Mrs. Marvel. Captain Marvel 2

Shakman detailed how the design of the production, the performances, the laughter tracks, the dialect coaches and more took into account that different eras of situation comedies came together. “It goes crazy, I wouldn’t want to ruin it for anyone, but we take a trip,” Shakman says of the times yet to come after three episodes.

White asks writer Shaeffer about Wanda and Vision’s past relationship and how WandaVision favors this.

“Wanda and Vision are, as a couple, the fans’ favorites, ”Shaeffer said. “Their love story has been very tragic, but very warm and intimate. We’ve seen them stolen from the MCU right now … with what we have WandaVision… is that we are opening the stage and space to them and they are in this domestic sphere. We see them making dishes in the kitchen … all this from your house in which you would never see a superhero participate. We go from these huge moments to the MCU and then to WandaVision it is very beautiful, beautiful, until it is not.

How did you maneuver in writing the dialect?

“It was like making an accent or a vintage piece,” she says. “In the early years, it was really a research thing … Then, as we moved forward, the comedies of the ’80s, that just burned into my real DNA, so it wasn’t a challenge.”

Will there be more Marvel sitcoms?

“We’ll see. That was our test,” Feige says. “Marvel has had a lot of successful TV shows in the past. This was Marvel Studios’ first foray,” he continues, noting that this is the cast of the movies. “The idea was always, yes, to do something that couldn’t be done as a feature that plays with the format and plays with the medium. There were many meetings before everyone understood what we were trying to do … We can turn a messy idea in a more bleak show … It worked perfectly that this would be Disney + ‘s debut for the MCU. “

Press Qs

How did they get to know the physical movements of different decades better and how does it evolve?

“There’s a lot more slapping and physical comedy in the beginning,” Bettany said. “Luckily, when we got to the ’90s, they all made me look so ridiculous that I didn’t really have to work so hard to laugh.”

“The way women move over the decades changes so much when it comes to what society wants from them,” Olsen says. “Jac wrote with a lot of head gestures about how these evolved; throughout the sixties, he wore pants that would fit the way someone moves through space … manners were a huge part of every decade. We would get it a book that represented the ways of the time. ” She points out that this is not a real sitcom, but a world where they act like a real sitcom.

There were doubts when starting Phase 4 MCU with WandaVision, given how different it is? Are Marvel fans more open to risk?

“I hope you say,‘ Get ready for the new and the different, ’” says Feige. “Certainl, with the opportunities Disney + has allowed us to creatively expand what we do. [TFATWS] would debut last year, followed by very soon WandaVision. Creatively, it was not remodeled. “This doesn’t require any kind of mixing when it comes to creativity … As is usually enough when throwing curve balls, the unexpected has often served well at MAavel Studios and serves us very well in this case because this show, being our first one, I love what is daring … We have things that you will only be able to see initially in cinemas … this is done a lot to see week after week on TV, which for us is very different ” .

They have a plan to stir things up, but “I’m not saying we were prepared for a global pandemic, we weren’t.”

More questions

How they mastered the changes of tone from a cinematic point of view in how they contrast the intense moments with the format of the sitcom.

“It was going into a kind of twilight zone,” Shakman said. “That’s how we approach filming and how it looks.”

“The twilight zone is a huge influence for me, personally,” Shaeffer said. “He was so incredibly skilled at that turn. You think you’re into something and he suddenly turned his head. We’re all incredibly in love. There’s a lot of current shows, prestige series, where you watch a couple of ‘episodes and you think the show is a thing and then towards episodes 4 or 5 turn the script around. “”

View the HYDRA or MCU reference in advertisements?

“The commercials were an early idea for that,” Feige said of how the real world will seep into the comedy of it all. “If that’s the first thing Marvel, MCU you’re watching, it’s just a weird version of a ’50s or’ 60s ad. If you’ve been watching all these movies, you might be able to start connecting the which mean all these things. from the past “.

Was there anything they captured in the decades of situation comedies that refused to be included in this?

“When we looked back and were doing our research … there were programs that were a little disappointing and not acceptable for today,” Shaeffer said. “We had a really amazing writing room full of people whose part of our job was to keep an eye on these things. As Matt said, we got into family comedies … the family piece kept us very focused. I can I’m not talking about the biggest puzzle of what the show is, but it was also a piece that kept us on track. “

How did the casting Kathryn Hahn come about?

“In my memory, it all happened very quickly,” Feige said. Hahn came to a general meeting, which is not common in Marvel studios. “She was a fan of what we were doing and we’re a fan of her, and we were exactly sitting in the writing room trying to figure out who should play Agness … Overall, it’s never that perfect. solidified the character’s voice … who’s the noisiest neighbor in the world right now? Not in real life, Kathryn, I’m not sure, but on screen! “

Feige saw something in the making of The Mandalorian to which he presented himself WandaVision?

WandaVision, we were all up and running long before we saw The Mandalorian, ”Feige said“ There are many, many The Mandalorain this has inspired us at Marvel Studios, including the stage craft they used in some upcoming projects … It was amazing to see the marketing work that Disney did in case … These projects at Disney + _ are so important projects that enter cinemas … They certainly showed that they can do it at Disney + with Mandalorian. The fun week after week, the debate, sometimes the series fall at the same time on the broadcast services, I think Disney + was very smart to leave weekly … “Accredit conversations to help generate excitement and look for what happens with WandaVision “.

How did Olsen maneuver using Wanda’s powers within a sitcom?

“I can’t move my nose,” Olsen admits, “So we had to find something that was a translation,” he says. The effects team became “ting puppets floating in the sky and trying magnets to spin things.” There was also “staying still” and “trying to remember your body” for the next place you change a dress or something.

As Wanda Maximoff would describe WandaVision?

“She would describe WandaVision like a family comedy of two people trying to fit in and not be discovered to be different, ”Olsen says.

How have the events of the MCU shaped the lives of Monica and Agness?

“They’ve definitely experienced some things and seen some things,” Parris says. “Actually, we can learn, particularly, what these things are that Monica has seen and experienced and how they have shaped her life. I don’t want to give away too much because we’ll actually have a lot of time going through the show.”

“There’s always that person bursting through the doors and sitting on the couch, but his personal life never knows anything about it,” Hahn says. “In this classic way I was able to get in while Agness was winking at all those beautiful troops behind it to build them.”

Where does phase 4 end? Feige will not comment.
