Kevin Feige explains why they threw Evan Peters ’Quicksilver instead of Aaron Taylor-Johnson

One of Marvel’s biggest surprises WandaVision was the arrival of Pietro Maximoff in the fifth episode, “In a very special episode …” played not by Aaron Taylor-Johnson, as the character was Avengers: Age of Ultron, but of Evan Peters, the actor who brought Quicksilver to life in the X-Men movies. It has since been revealed that this “Pietro” may not be the real deal; last week’s episode revealed that Agnes (Kathryn Hahn) is actually Agatha Harkness and that she’s been pulling strings all along – and it turns out that’s part of the reason the series went with Peters instead of Taylor-Johnson.

During the Disney + TCA presentation on Wednesday, the head of Marvel Studios, Kevin Feige, said that the decision to introduce Peters instead of Taylor-Johnson happened quite early in the development process and then explained that everything part of how “certain people” are getting involved with Wanda.

“This is one of the fun things about developing these things or skiing them in the rooms,” Feige said (via The wrapper). “My favorite part of the process is always very, very early, when we’re figuring out what a thing can be and, in the end, when we’re refining it and putting it in the world. So there were all kinds of debates, but I think we’ve ended up following what you saw relatively early in the development process. It’s another way that certain people were wrapping up Wanda. “

And last week, “Breaking the Fourth Wall,” the seventh episode of the series, revealed that someone was actually messing with Wanda (Elizabeth Olsen) and using “Pietro” to do so. The episode saw Agnes reveal herself as Agatha and a montage showed viewers what “Agatha had been like all along” had been like with a catchy themed song, a themed song that has spawned a huge fan cover and creative remix. Of course, there are still many theories that suggest that Agatha may not be the big evil of WandaVision. There are many theories that suggest that Mephisto or Nightmare might still be behind everything and even some theories that Quicksilver could be Chthon. Fans will only have to wait for the last two episodes to find out.

The first seven episodes of WandaVision they are now airing on Disney +.
