Kike Hernandez went for the street for the first time in the Red Sox uniform

Puerto Rican Enrique “Kike” Hernandez on Tuesday gave his first home run in a Red Sox uniform in the 9-3 victory over the Tampa Bay Rays at JetBlue Stadium in Fort Myer with part of the day of the Major League preseason.

Hernandez, who signed a two-year, $ 14 million contract with the Red Sox after winning the 2020 World Series with the Los Angeles Dodgers, sent the ball into center field in the third inning before sending him out of the right David Hess. Hernandez, Boston’s first bat in the game, also received two bases per ball.

“Send the ball to center field. Now I have father strength,” Hernandez said during a televised speech amid the challenge. The Puerto Rican referred to his newborn, Penelope Isabel, a product of his marriage to actress and former Miss Universe Puerto Rico, Mariana Vicent.

In the same episode, Jarren Duran, the most valuable player in the winter ball final in Puerto Rico with the Caguas Creoles, and the Dominican Rafael Devers also went for the street.

Yairo Múñoz disappeared the ball first in the second inning.

JD Martinez, who promised to recover from a campaign in which he beat just 213 in 54 games, contributed a couple of singles in three rounds and scored a run. The Venezuelan Martín Pérez threw two innings without tolerating annotation. It allowed only one hit.
