King Philip VI makes his position clear in the face of the controversy of King John Charles I.

Everyone was waiting for King Philip VI to comment on the latest controversies about his father and the position he had chosen when dealing with the legal problems he has about. Although he did not mention his name, he spoke about the delicate situation in which the emeritus is living and somehow made clear his opinion on the matter.

“Moral and ethical principles oblige us all without exception, and are above any consideration, of any nature, even of persons or relatives” with these statements King Philip VI alluded to the complicated situation that lives at home, especially in the media decline that is suffering King John Charles I since the beginning of the year.

And we must not forget that although for the vast majority of spectators and citizens, King Philip VI is this, the King of the country and Head of State, is also ‘son of’. It is not easy to speak ill or show such a clear opinion in this regard about the emeritus and more being outside Spain after his abandonment last August.

Alluding to these moral and ethical principles to which he committed himself in his proclamation before the Cortes Generales in 2014, King Philip VI has been most forceful: “They force us all without exception” dropping what everyone expected to hear: “above relatives.”

A Christmas that could be called sadder by the Royal House that has had to completely disassociate itself from King Emeritus in the face of the ongoing controversy that it has caused with the tricks that have been coming out in recent months. King Juan Carlos I has not returned to Spain for Christmas and many say it has been a decision made by his son, being the best for everyone.
