Barcelona coach Ronald Koeman was upset with the club’s president, Joan Laporta, whom he pointed out in order to leak information to the media about a possible contract renewal at the helm of Barça.
In an interview with the Dutch media AD (General Diary), Which resume several portals in Spain, the coach complained that some details and alleged impositions transcended for its renewal to take place.
“Two and a half weeks ago we had a conversation about a new contract. Nothing was leaked to the media until the president had a session with journalists last Tuesday about the club situation, also about the financial aspect and such. In the end, all of a sudden, people started talking about the contract, “Koeman said.
It transpired that the conditions for the coach to extend his contract are three: Win Laliga, bet on the squad and have an offensive style.
“A day later, the newspapers declared, ‘Koeman can get a new contract under three conditions.’ Then I said, ‘this is not possible. I need to be able to control how we play and who belongs to the group of’ … I’m who you have to decide who plays, ”Koeman complained.
Another of the transcendents was that from the Barça board they suggested to Koeman that he give minutes to Riqui Puig and Samuel Untiti, a situation that the coach rejected.
“There were two times when things came out that didn’t indicate support for the coach. That bothered me,” he added.
