A poster recently unveiled for Princess Diana’s upcoming biopic, “Spencer,” hints at the royal backstage anguish posed by director Pablo Larrain and lead actress Kristen Stewart.
The promotional image, released Wednesday by distributor Neon, shows the “Twilight” star as Diana in a voluminous cream dress with her back turned towards the camera.

The biopic, which premieres at the Venice Film Festival the month before its premiere in November, tells of the Christmas holidays taken at the Sandringham estate of the royal family in 1991.
With Diana’s marriage to Prince Charles “long cold”, the film spans three days of “eating and drinking, shooting and hunting” amid “rumors of affairs and divorce,” according to a synopsis official.
With a screenplay by “Peaky Blinders” creator Steven Knight, the biopic sees Jack Farthing playing Prince Charles. Other stars are Sean Harris, Oscar-nominated Sally Hawkins and Timothy Spall.

Stewart is the latest in a long line of actors to play the princess, with Naomi Watts taking on the role of the 2013 biopic, “Diana.” Emma Corrin also had a recent twist as Diana in the fourth season of “The Crown.” The popular Netflix series, which covers a different time period each season, has since launched Elizabeth Debicki as a royal in recent years.
