Kuo: 2022 iPhones with 48-megapixel camera, 8K video and 6.1 and 6.7 “sizes with no 5.4” mini option

The next line of iPhones in 2022 will feature two 6.1-inch and two 6.7-inch devices, with no small 5.4-inch ‌iPhone‌, said Ming-Chi Kuo, an Apple analyst, respected , in a note to investors that was seen by MacRumors. Two of the iPhones will be high-end models and two of the iPhones will be low-end models, similar to the current iPhone 12 line.

IPhone 12 cameras

Apple introduced the 5.4-inch ‌iPhone‌ mini in the ‌iPhone 12‌ line and plans to continue selling a 5.4-inch device in 2021, but it looks like the size will stop working later, if Kuo’s information is accurate. The iPhone 12 mini has not sold as well as expected, according to various iPhone sales estimates.

Along with streamlining size options, Kuo believes Apple will introduce major camera upgrades to the 2022 iPhones, adding a 48-megapixel camera to the high-end ‌iphone‌ 14 models. Kuo says the updated camera lens will bring photography from the ‌iPhone‌ camera to a new level.

In terms of pixel size, the ‌iPhone 12‌, the iPhone 13 and the new HiPhone‌ 2H22 have approximately 1.7um, 2um and 1.25um, respectively. We believe the new HiPhone‌ 2H22 can support 48MP direct output and 12MP output (four-cell output mode) simultaneously. With a 12 MP output, the CIS pixel size of the new HiPhone 2H22 increases to approximately 2.5um, which is significantly larger than the ‌iPhone 12‌ and the PiPhone 13‌, and is larger than existing Android phones and approaches the DSC level. We believe that the camera quality of the new HiPhone 2H22 will take the camera photography of the mobile phone to a new level.

Along with a 48-megapixel lens that will also be able to come out at 12 megapixels, Kuo expects high-end iPhones to be able to record 8K video and says that in the future, watch videos recorded by the iPhone on an 8K screen or TV “will provide a better user experience.”

Because the best resolution for augmented and mixed reality is 8K to 16K, Kuo says the 4822-megapixel camera on the 22iPhone vídeos 2022 will create videos and images “more suitable for AR / MR devices” and that “will improve the AR user / MR “experience”.

As for future iPhones, Kuo says Apple will adopt a periscope telephoto lens in 2023, along with a Face ID that doesn’t appear on the screen, which would supposedly eliminate the notch. Kuo previously said that Apple would introduce a perforated front camera on the 2022 iPhone and that at least one “iPhone” in 2023 would have an under-touch touch screen and a full-screen display with no notch or holes.
