Kuo: Apple Watch Series 8 will take your temperature, future AirPods to help you control your health

In a research note focused on how Apple Watch Series 7 will still be released in September, despite a small two-week delay in mass production, Ming-Chi Kuo, a reputed Apple analyst, also briefly commented on Apple Watch Series 8 and the AirPods.

Kuo said he is optimistic about the demand for Apple Watch in 2022, as next year’s Apple Watch Series 8 will offer new health management features, and predicted that it will include body temperature measurement . This feature would conveniently turn the Apple Watch into a wrist thermometer, which can be especially useful for detecting fever, a common symptom of many diseases.

BloombergMark Gurman and Debby Wu previously reported that the Apple Watch would likely gain a body temperature sensor in 2022 and The Wall Street JournalRolfe Winkler said the function would help fertility planning.

Apple has gradually expanded the health features available on the Apple Watch over the years to include heart rate tracking, irregular heart rate notifications, ECG application, blood oxygen measurement, drop detection and much more. In an interview with Outside Magazine last year, Apple CEO Tim Cook said the Apple Watch is still in “the early entries” in terms of how many sensors could be incorporated into the device.

“Think about the amount of sensors in your car,” Cook said. “And without a doubt, your body is much more important than your car.”

Kuo also predicted that future AirPods will provide health management features, but did not provide any specific details. In May 2020, DigiTimes reported that future AirPods will adopt a new technology integrated into systems with embedded AI, which will allow the AirPods to “control heart rate, step count and health conditions.”

According to Kuo, Chinese supplier Luxshare Precision will be the “biggest beneficiary” of Apple’s healthcare management hardware products.
