Kyle Lowry, Kristaps Porzingis and more

We’re exactly within a month of the NBA’s 2020-2021 trade deadline, so it’s time for a special edition of our series of trade rumor rankings.

We usually release a new part of this series every Monday, but as we approach the commercial deadline, we’ll start picking up the frequency of our commercial rumor rating items.

And judging by some of the names that are starting to make bands, it’s probably a good idea on our part.

Then check out the five players who have appeared most frequently on our trade rumors page during the previous days sorted by order of presentation.

5 Kyle Lowry (Toronto)

Kyle Lowry has an expiring contract and while he’s a Toronto Raptors legend, that hasn’t stopped the team president Masai Ujiri before dealing with a player of his caliber. This, in addition to the fact that Toronto bet on the long term Fred VanVleet last season, it has led many to believe that Lowry’s days with the Raptors could be numbered.

And considering that Lowry is still a very productive overall flat, averaging 18.0 points, 5.5 rebounds and 6.5 assists per game while shooting nearly 40% from the arc, the interest to acquire it will be high in the commercial market.

Three teams that are already being discussed as possible landing points for Lowry include his hometown Philadelphia 76ers, as well as the Miami Heat and Los Angeles Clippers, all franchises with high aspirations this season.

However, if you want to rely on recent reports, Lowry’s preference would be to end up at home in Philadelphia (via The Philadelphia Inquirer):

A source said Lowry would like to be in Philly. The source believes the Sixers and Raptors could achieve something. But if that’s the case, Toronto would probably want some selections, young players and veterans with contracts for Lowry, who earn $ 30 million this season.

The report went on to say:

Kyle Lowry would be the perfect fit for the 76ers. The same can be said of the Miami Heat. However, the best place for the independent Philly and Toronto Raptors is The Los Clippers. According to sources, these three teams could become potential commercial destinations for the former Cardinal Dougherty High School and Villanova. That is, of course, if Lowry chooses not to end the season with the Raptors.

Even at almost 35 years old, Lowry remains one of the best mainstays of the game and, most importantly, is the one who has shown that he can help lead a team to a championship.

If Toronto cares about moving Lowry, the market for him will heat up quickly, and it is likely that aspirants will fight for his services.

4 Austin Rivers, New York

There has been no specific report on this Austin Rivers future with the New York Knicks recently, but speaking recently to the media, the two-way guard sounded essentially as if he was preparing to be moved (through the New York Post):

Knicks guard Austin Rivers arrived as the team’s veteran leader who planned to close out games as a backup. On Wednesday, in his first statements since Derrick Rose’s trade, he looked like a man about to be traded, sometimes frustrating in the past of his Knicks stage. “I can’t control whether they negotiate with me today, tomorrow or the next day. What I can control is how I am as a player and what I can contribute to this team every day. Be prepared at all times, regardless of whether it is said or not, and to help young and young boys be prepared to play. I will continue to be ready to play here while I am here, for a long time.

Rivers has had a somewhat quiet season, averaging 7.3 points and 2.2 rebounds in 21 games, with 36.4% of three in the process. Nor has he seen action for the Knicks since Feb. 13.

Still, Rivers has a lot of experience in the playoffs and defends his position well and will only earn $ 3.5 million this year, while sources told HoopsHype that his 2021-22 is not fully guaranteed, which the it makes even more attractive a contender looking for the depth of the backyard.

New York should have no trouble finding him a new home for the next month.

3 Bradley Beal (Washington)

Although each sign indicates it Bradley Beal this season is going nowhere, that hasn’t stopped his name from constantly appearing in commercial rumors, and this week has been no different.

Based in New York ESPN radio host Michael Kay he said on his show Tuesday that he had heard William Wesley, better known as World Wide Wes, who works for the Knicks’ main office, uses later channels to boost Beal’s camp to order a trade this season (through the Knicks). New York Daily News):

“The Knicks have World Wide Wes by their side,” Kay said. “And he’s been on the ears of some of Beal’s people and he’s giving them a little fist that could be a time to boost a trade.” World Wide Wes, whose real name is William Wesley, was hired by the Knicks in June to work with his longtime partner Leon Rose. It’s Wesley’s first official job with an NBA team after decades as a backstage power agent who took advantage of relationships to influence. World Wide Wes, who has the ear of James Dolan, is an animated figure on the sidelines this season, both on the road and at MSG, but has never spoken publicly.

This is a pretty strong accusation, which could cause the Knicks to have a lot of trouble if it turns out to be true, but it’s not really that surprising; this type of secondary channel recruitment is likely to happen often in the NBA, especially when it comes to huge brands in the market.

Still, the Washington Wizards play much better recently and Beal leads the league in scoring. The odds of trading next month are minimal.

2 Andre Drummond (Cleveland)

Two teams were recently connected Andre Drummond over the last few days: the Dallas Mavericks and the Knicks.

The first were mentioned by Bleacher Report Jake Fischer, who reported the following:

For now, Dallas seems interested for the first time in adding a center to help complement Porzingis, sources said. The Mavericks have surrounded Andre Drummond while the Cleveland Cavaliers are looking to move in a different direction on the front court, but Dallas has expressed no interest in parting ways with Porzingis in these particular conversations. “They want a great pair with him,” a league source said. “Viously with obvious physicality, bounce, toughness.”

While the latter were mentioned by Marc Berman from New York Post, who wrote as follows:

According to an NBA source who has been in contact with the Knicks, the club has not made any decisions, but is “analyzing” whether it has a game from a chemical and winning point of view to play a play for the Cavaliers center. the template. The Knicks are the team with the fewest goals in the NBA.

Much is made of Drummond’s salary, which expires but pays him $ 28.8 million this season, and his sometimes poor effort on defense, but the 27-year-old is a double-double machine that is a finisher. ‘elite for selection is an absolute force on glass, at both ends.

Therefore, there is no doubt that it would help a candidate who needed a front track if he was changed to another the following month.

1 Kristaps Porzingis (Dallas)

For the first time since moving from New York to the Dallas Mavericks, Kristaps Porzingis has begun to appear in credible commercial rumors, and although he owns Mavs Mark Cuban he denied them, more than one medium that informed them gives credibility to the potential worth believing.

First, Bleacher Report Fischer reported the following Tuesday:

In fact, Dallas has quietly measured Porzingis ’commercial market, according to league sources, as the Mavericks have begun to assess whether the 25-year-old center can really support Doncic as a second option for a candidate. “They’ve thrown the tires at everyone on their list who isn’t called Luka,” said one person with knowledge of Dallas thinking. “Meet Donnie; they’re always playing. “” They’ve definitely sniffed it out, “a deputy general manager told B / R.” They’re taking the temperature, because they know it’s going to happen at some point. “

Then, Ian Begley of CUT DOWN he reiterated that Dallas has discussed Porzingis ’business with various teams while measuring its value. One of these teams? The Golden State Warriors (via SNY on YouTube):

Ian Begley in Kristaps Porzingis: (The Dallas Mavericks) have spoken to several teams simply quietly measuring their value in the commercial market. One team they spoke to was Golden State. I don’t know if things have come a long way. I don’t know if they want to move him seriously, but at least right now they value his value around the league.

Porzingis has a good performance this season, averaging 20.5 points, 8.2 rebounds and 1.6 blocks, but his three-point percentage has remained at a meager 35.2 and there are very legitimate questions. about his ability to be the number 2 choice of a true contender.

And given Dallas ’slow start to the season (15-15 and No. 9 west to this point), it’s easy to see why the team would do be sniffing to see what they could achieve in exchange for their big man spaced out and blocked from shooting.
