Kylie Jenner sparked outrage on Twitter over the weekend after encouraging fans to contribute to an online fundraiser for famed makeup artist Samuel Rauda, who was involved in a serious incident and was operated last week.
Jenner, 23, who has worked with Rauda, had recently promoted a GoFundMe page dedicated to funding her medical expenses in her Instagram story, telling her 222 million followers: “Slide up to visit their families [sic] go finance me, “according to The Sun.
The request did not go well among fans, who noted that Jenner could have funded the costs, as it has an estimated net worth of just under $ 900 million.
“Why is Kylie Jenner asking for donations to fund her makeup artist’s surgery when she’s a multimillionaire?” a user tweeted.
“If I were as rich as Kylie Jenner, I just wouldn’t ask ppl on the internet to donate for my best friend’s brain surgery, but we all think I guess!” published another.
“How come Kylie Jenner doesn’t pay her makeup artist enough to afford 60k surgery? That’s the real question. Her business is makeup. It’s her makeup artist! Doesn’t she bring millions ?!?” it was written.
A GoFundMe page was created earlier this week to help cover Rauda’s medical expenses. Under a list of major donations, a “kylie jenner” seemed to give $ 5,000.
As of Sunday, more than $ 97,000 has been raised with a goal of $ 120,000.

Amid Sunday’s reaction, some defended Jenner online.

In 2019, Forbes named Jenner the “youngest billionaire in the world” at the age of 21.
