NEW YORK – Kyrie Irving’s return to the Brooklyn Nets remains a mystery, and coach Steve Nash said Monday he had no information about his player.
The Nets ruled out base Irving for Monday’s game against the Oklahoma City Thunder, as well as Tuesday’s game against the Denver Nuggets, which will be the fourth to be lost for personal reasons. Nash has said it is a private matter, without going into details about Irving’s absence.
Nash did mention that he understood that Irving underwent a coronavirus test on Sunday, but did not know if he did so on Monday.
It will depend on Irving continuing to undergo diagnostic tests during absence to determine how quickly he will be able to rejoin the team.
The Nets have lost two of their three games without Irving. Kevin Durant missed two of them due to NBA health protocols for COVID-19, reappearing Sunday in the 129-116 loss to Oklahoma City.
