A test for COVID-19 vaccination will be required at bars, wineries, breweries, nightclubs and lounges in Los Angeles County under an upcoming health order, according to an official, which will help shield the region from another wave of coronavirus.
The mandate will also apply to employees of these establishments and will require that both they and employers have at least one dose of vaccine before October 7 and be fully vaccinated on November 4, announced the Director of Public Health, Barbara Ferrer, during Wednesday’s Board of Supervisors meeting.
“This is a reasonable way forward that will position us to be able to better break the cycle of climbs,” he told the board.
Under the new order, participants and workers at outdoor “mega events” with more than 10,000 attendees will also need to provide vaccination evidence or show that they have recently tested negative for coronavirus infection. This requirement is already established for covered events where at least 1,000 people are present.
Ferrer said county health officials also strongly recommend, though not requiring, vaccine verification on restaurant interiors.
The county’s permanent requirement that residents mask in indoor public settings will remain in place, he added.
