the Dallas Cowboys announced that offensive tackle La’el Collins has been suspended by the NFL for five games. The suspension is due to a violation of the NFL’s banned substances policy.
“The right-wing offensive tackle, La’el Collins, has been suspended without pay for the next five games for violating the NFL’s Prohibited Substances Policy, the NFL announced Friday.” the Cowboys stated in a press release. “Collins will be able to return to the Cowboys’ squad on Monday, October 18, after the game against New England in the sixth week.
The Cowboys have Week 7 free, which means that just in week 8 against the Vikings they will be able to have their entire starting offensive line again. Starting guard Zach Martin missed the first game of the season after contracting COVID-19, and Collins will be out when the veteran plays again.
Collins Plans to Appeal the Suspension: The Report
Few details have been published on what led to Collins’ suspension. According to Ian Rapoport, of NFL Network, Collins’ suspension is tied to “not getting anti-doping.” The NFL categorized him as “absent.” ESPN’s Ed Werder reported that Collins plans to appeal the suspension, but is estimated to have very little chance of being able to reverse the punishment.
