LAKE COUNTY, Fla. – Lake County will begin vaccinating people over the age of 65 in two locations starting Wednesday, with plans for more dates in the near future.
During this first phase, Lake County will vaccinate the following populations: residents and staff of long-term care centers; people 65 and older; and health personnel with direct contact with the patient.
Vaccination sites will be at Cooper Memorial Library and Lake Sumter College.
Vaccines are free, but by appointment. There may be opportunities to make tickets based on cancellations and appointment availability.
To register, people who meet the requirements will need to call 352-742-4830 Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Please bring your ID and, if you are a health worker, a copy of your medical license, identification badge or current payment slip.

The vaccine is not expected to be available to the general population, including younger residents or non-frontline workers, until late spring.
