Lakers, favorites to get Rajon Rondo back after his Grizzlies contract termination

Rajon Rondo is aiming for a return with the Los Angeles Lakers, following his contract termination with the Memphis Grizzlies, sources told ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

Rondo will meet the deadline on Monday and will be signed to occupy the final place available on the Lakers roster, the sources added.

The veteran baseman was traded by the LA Clippers to the Grizzlies on Aug. 15 as part of a three-player package by owner Eric Bledsoe.

Rondo was acquired, from the Atlanta Hawks, on the change deadline last season by Lou Williams and two second-round picks. The Clippers expected Rondo to give them leadership and playoff plays as a scorer, but the veteran baseman played just 13 playoff games and came out of coach Ty Lue’s postseason rotation.
