Shawn Southwick, the widow of Larry King, challenged the will that the legendary journalist left handwritten and according to which his estate was to be divided equally among his five children. “This is my last will and testament (…) I should replace all previous writings,” the document to which People had access states.
According to the American media specializing in show news, the will dates from October 17, 2019, two months after King filed for divorce from Southwick, his seventh wife, arguing differences irreconcilable.
However, Southwick now says she and King were working toward a possible “reconciliation” when the journalist fell ill. In this sense, in court documents raised that after he filed for divorce, “the parties went to counseling, kept talking and reconciliation was still possible.”
Southwick also said she was “actively involved” in King’s business, and that she has “the greatest knowledge” of her assets and desires at the time of her death. For this reason, she asked to be appointed special administrator of the journalist’s victim’s estate instead of the journalist’s son, Larry Jr., although this was what King requested in her will.
Larry King died at the age of 87 last January 23rd. According to his death certificate, although he was hospitalized after contracting the coronavirus, his death was due to sepsis resulting from two underlying conditions: acute hypoxic respiratory failure, ie lack of oxygen in the blood, and renal failure. Over the years, King also suffered from other health problems such as type 2 diabetes, various heart attacks and lung cancer.
