Before the Super Bowl, we knew that a Carson Wentz trade could be imminent. However, the Eagles are not close to completing a deal with any of the teams interested at the moment, according to Mike Garafolo of NFL.com (at Twitter).
The Bears and Colts are one of the teams watching the No. 11, but the other clubs involved remain a mystery. It is believed that the other teams that lost the new Rams holder Matthew Stafford could entertain Wentz – this list includes the Broncos, Panthers, and 49ers. Of course, the Panthers and Broncos would prefer a deal for Deshaun Watson, if jeans can work to a reasonable question. Probably one of those two players will be the next domino to fall on the QB carousel.
The Colts, who just lost Philip Rivers until retirement, it would be a logical fit for Wentz. Wentz, meanwhile, wouldn’t mind meeting the former mentor Frank Reich.
Publicly, the Eagles have said they would like to move on with Wentz, but the North Dakota state product still wants to come out. Any team that hosts him would also take on his important contract, which extends to 2024. Still, after the 2022 season there is an escape hatch that helps a bit. In any case, the Eagles will not be able to match the Stafford package of two first-round picks and one third-round pick. Stafford, at this point, is more attractive and the Lions took over Jared GoffThe strong contract in order to score this whole capital project.
