Lawrence MA Fire Bennington Street, Saratoga Street – NBC Boston

Fire departments in several areas are responding to a large fire that affected at least five buildings in Lawrence, Massachusetts, Sunday evening.

North Andover and Woburn Fire have confirmed they are providing mutual assistance in the fire of 5 alarms on Saratoga Street.

Numerous other departments in the area are also responding, along with the Lawrence Police Department.

The fire was reported shortly after 7 p.m. Strong flames and smoke could be seen coming from the area.

Police say there are no injuries reported at this time and no one has been missing either.

On Sunday, heavy flames and smoke could be seen coming from Saratoga Street in Lawrence, Massachusetts, where several fire departments in the area are responding to a large fire that involved at least five buildings.

NBC10 Boston meteorologist Chris Gloninger said westerly winds drop to 26 mph, causing exposure issues.

NBC10 Boston has crews on stage. They say there is serious visible damage to at least one house, but thick smoke restricts visibility in the area.

The Massachusetts Red Cross is responding and claims there are an unknown number of adults and children who are said to have been displaced.

Firefighters are being asked to meet with the Red Cross for help at the Lawrence Street Command Center, near Pollo Tipico (190 Lawrence Street) and Farrah Funeral Home (located at 133 Lawrence Street), according to the mayor’s office.

The agency will provide comfort services, financial assistance and long-term recovery.


Lawrence residents are asked not to approach Saratoga Street. Streets in the area are closed, police said.
