Lawyer says Argenis Contreras revealed politicians involved in OMSA corruption

The National District Court of Instruction Chamber adjourned for May 17 the preliminary hearing against Argenis Contreras, the main defendant in the death of lawyer Yuniol Ramírez in October 2017.

Judge Yanibet Rivas rescheduled the hearing for that day at 10:00 p.m.

Plutarch Jáquez, Argenis’ lawyer, said the court granted two requests they made for the adjournment; one was for the Public Ministry to give them some supporting documents and another for the lawyers to be allowed to meet with the accused in Najayo prison and the court granted two requests.

Argenis is collaborating

According to the jurist, Argenis Contreras has been collaborating with the authorities since he was deported from the United States and “43 days ago he told the Public Prosecutor’s Office all PLD officials who are involved in acts of corruption in the United States. ‘OMSA and there are people who should be taken and are effective campers.’

The death of Professor Yuniol Ramírez revealed the corruption that prevailed in the OMSA, so the former director of the OMSA, Manuel Rivas, and the former financial director, Faustino Rosario Díaz, were sent to trial.

Whereas by the death of Ramirez it was dictated of opening of judgment against Jose Antonio White Market, Jorge Luis Abreu Fabian, Heidy Carolina Peña, Lilian Francisca Suárez Jáquez and Victor Elisander Ravelo Fields.
