Leaders report 171 new cases of COVID-19, 6 deaths

SAINT ANTHONY – San Antonio Mayor Ron Nirenberg and Bexar County Judge Nelson Wolff briefed the community on the local response to COVID-19 in its daily briefing Tuesday night.

Nirenberg reported 198,969 COVID-19 cases in total and 2,853 deaths in total in Bexar County, an increase of 171 new cases as of Tuesday. Six new deaths have been reported today.

The seven – day rotating average is 186.

City officials also reported that 262 patients are hospitalized, 120 in the intensive care unit and 76 in ventilators. 12% beds are available and 64% fans are available. There have been 41 hospital admissions in the last 24 hours.

Nirenberg said the total number of hospitalizations is the lowest number seen since November.

Now the level of school risk is “low”.

Nirenberg said more than 295,000 people have received the first dose and more than 174,000 people have been completely vaccinated in the area.
