SAINT ANTHONY – San Antonio Mayor Ron Nirenberg and Bexar County Judge Nelson Wolff briefed the community on the local response to COVID-19 in its daily session Monday night.
Nirenberg reported 175,530 COVID-19 cases in total and 2,152 deaths in total in Bexar County, with an increase of 2,376 new cases as of Monday. Nine deaths have also been reported today.
Nirenberg said the total daily cases contained backlog cases from the state, noting that the count was essentially a total of two days.
The moving average of cases over 7 days is 1,447.
City officials also reported that 1,171 patients are hospitalized, 399 in the intensive care unit and 244 in ventilators. 13% beds are available and 51% fans are available.
Nirenberg said the positivity rate fell for the third week in a row, reaching 11.4% on Monday. While this is a positive trend, Nirenberg urged residents to make social distancing efforts and wear a mask around others.
