According to leaker Max Weinbach, Apple’s next-generation iPhone 13 will feature a new type of coating designed to reduce the incidence of fingerprints and stains. While fingerprints aren’t exactly a huge problem, it can sometimes be a disappointment when you spend more than a big new iPhone just to see it full of stains a few days later.
Now, before you get too excited, Weinbach adds that the special coating in question will be exclusive to Apple iPhone 13 Pro models. However, this is not too surprising, as Apple has historically reserved some of its latest materials and technologies for its higher-end devices. Similarly, the rumored 120Hz ProMotion screen that will arrive on the iPhone 13 will also be exclusive to Pro models.

Weinbach ‘s scoop was originally published in TotApplePro YouTube channel a few days ago.
“There’s also a new, improved coating on the stainless steel edges of the Pro models,” the video says in part. “This will make stains and fingerprints stand out much less, which Max says is desperately needed in the golden color of the iPhone 12 Pro series.”
By the way, Weinbach is the same source who claims that there will be a model of iPhone 13 Pro that includes a textured matte black that should make it easier to hold the device.
“The matte back is perfected” TotApplePro was reported last month. “So on the 2021 iPhones, I’m sure Max is referring to the Pro models, they’ll have a slightly more sticky textured back. He says they’ll be a little more comfortable and I guess it’ll be like a soft matte, like the series Pixel ”.
Other features of the iPhone 13 Pro, apart from the aforementioned new coating, matte back and 120 Hz ProMotion screen, include Portrait mode for video recording, possible new colors, better optical stabilization of Shift sensor image and improved low light camera performance.
While overall iPhone 13 models should look the same as the Apple 12 range with respect to the overall form factor, the upcoming iPhone 13 will feature a slight design change as the notch on the device will clearly be smaller.
Over the weekend, fictional mock-ups of the iPhone 13 appeared online and show the look of the iPhone 13 screen compared to the iPhone 12 screen.
According to reports, the new notch will have a length of 26.8 mm compared to the 34.83 mm notch on the iPhone 12. By the way, the notch 13 on the iPhone will be slightly larger in function of height and will measure 5.35 mm compared to 5.3 mm of the iPhone 12.
A notable software change that we can see with the iPhone 13 and iOS 15 is a new screen always similar to what we have seen with the Apple Watch.
“The ever-active screen will have minimal customization,” Weinbach said a few weeks ago. “The current design basically looks like a reduced lock screen. The clock and battery charge are always visible. Notifications appear to be displayed using a bar and icons. Once received, the notification will appear normally, unless the screen does not turn on completely. Instead, it will show it as you are used to now, except that it is attenuated and only temporarily. “
Apple plans to launch its entire iPhone 13 line next September, with a special event scheduled for earlier this month.
