Apple is expected to launch a number of new products this year and the first round of products could arrive in a few weeks. Youtuber Jon Prosser, who has a mixed track record of reporting on Apple’s plans, says AirTags and new iPad Pro models will be announced next month, presumably via a virtual event.
Prosser, who runs the “Front Page Tech” technology news program, tweeted rather today that AirTags “are still up and running” and that “he hasn’t heard of any more delays this time around.” However, this is not the first time the online personality claims to have information about AirTags. In October, Prosser stated that AirTags was “for sure” would arrive at the November event, but that didn’t materialize and the event focused entirely on Apple Silicon Macs. The YouTuber too claimed that AirTags would be released along with iOS and iPadOS 14.3, which didn’t happen either.
Prosser has previously claimed March 2021 as the launch month for AirTags, but it’s worth noting that Apple doesn’t normally hold events before March, so its claim seems to be a conjecture formed. Finally, Prosser once stated that “AirTags” was likely to be launched at Apple’s event in September 2020, and that it didn’t come to fruition either.
In a carry on tweeted today, Prosser reiterated his past claim the updated iPad Pro models will be announced in March this year. It has been rumored that new iPad Pros will be released some time ago and analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has said he would expect a launch during the first half of 2021, in line with Prosser’s March timeline. Again, it’s worth noting Prosser prior claim new iPads would be launched in late 2020, which did not happen.
However, YouTuber has been Apple’s source of accurate information in the past, including accurately reporting the exact date and time of the second-generation iPhone launch in April and the 13-inch MacBook Pro update in May, and correctly reported the launch of an updated iMac in August minutes before it became official.
The most credible information so far about the launch of AirTags comes from Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, who said last month that AirTags was on track to release in 2021, although the analyst left to provide a more specific time frame.
Leaker L0vetodream, which has a history of trust, has cryptically hinted that AirTags could come in small and large sizes. It is rumored that AirTags includes replaceable batteries and works directly in the Find My app on iOS, iPadOS and macOS.
