Lebron James is injured and is taken off the field to receive medical treatment

Los Angeles Lakers superstar Lebron James had to leave Saturday’s game against the Atlanta Hawks due to injury.

James, one of the nominees for the Most Valuable Player award in the current season, injured his right ankle during a play in the second half.

The 36-year-old winger averaged 25.8 points, 8.1 rebounds and 8 assists per game before the Hawks. Pivot star Anthony Davis is also out due to injury.

James’ injury occurred after a collision with Solomon Hill. Out of frustration, he dropped a chair in the direction of dressing room.

James immediately cried out in pain, grabbing his right leg. The Lakers called time-out to verify the 18-year-old veteran, with several teammates, coaches and medical staff members walking down the court to surround James.

James was able to stop by himself and limped back to the bench.

He called for another time shortly after and James retired from the game for good with 10:04 remaining in the second quarter, with the Lakers losing 34-30.

The Lakers will play next Sunday against the Phoenix Suns.
