Left-wing protesters wreaked havoc on the streets of Portland on Wednesday evening, shattering windows at the state Democratic Party headquarters while chanting slogans against police, according to police and a local report.
Eight protesters were arrested on various charges as hundreds of black-clad protesters marched on the northeast section of the city, said the police department.
Some of the arrests were related to vandalism at the Democratic Party headquarters in Oregon, where protesters broke windows and damaged the building, police said.
One protester was charged with “reckless burning,” Portland police said.
Protesters, marching against police killings and “fascist massacres,” also threw rubble at police and swarmed officers, a local Fox affiliate reported.
Protests hit the city the same day Democrat Joe Biden was sworn in as president of Washington, DC
A banner carried by protesters carried a coat of arms with an anti-Biden message calling for “revenge” for “police killings.”
