LG’s 325-inch direct-view LED TV is a response to Samsung’s The Wall

You won’t have to stick to Samsung’s The Wall if you insist on a giant TV for your equally spacious mansion. LG has introduced an Extreme Home View LED (DVLED) Direct cinema line aimed directly at “super luxurious” homes. It’s based on the same basic concept of using millions of LEDs (2 to 33 million) to form a complete image in custom shapes, but you can scale to sizes that can even make Samsung blush – you can choose anything from small 81-inch to a 325-inch configuration that dominates the room.

You’ll need to meet a conventional 16: 9 aspect ratio if you want these extremes, but you can also opt for “UltraStretch” 32: 9 settings if you want to watch multiple video sources at once (e.g., live sports with your computers). You’ll have to get out of these 33 million diodes if you want to get an 8K image, but you can settle for 4K or even 2K (both in single or dual configurations) if you’re not so determined to impress your guests. A WebOS controller box provides smart TV features.

LG is getting orders for these home DVLED sets now, but you won’t be surprised to learn that LG doesn’t list prices when each system places a custom order. It is safe to say that the costs will not be trivial. LG estimates that installation, warranty, and care (including “health checks” twice a year) are worth $ 30,000; the real set is sure to be so much more. If it’s too much, you may have to “settle” for LG’s $ 100,000 roll-up OLED TV.
