Liberal presidential candidates are waiting for official results from the CNE

Tegucigalpa, Honduras

After the primary and internal elections last Sunday, March 14 in Honduras, the presidential candidates of the Liberal Party, Yani Rosenthal and Luis Zelaya, cross their fingers waiting for the official results of the National Electoral Council (CNE).

The polls published on election night by national media gave a very narrow margin to the victory of the pre-candidate of the Yanista Movement, Yani Rosenthal.

For his part, Luis Zelaya, presidential candidate of the Recover Honduras movement, has repeatedly said that he won the election and questioned the ballot box surveys, in which his opponent won by a difference of more than 5%.

This Monday, Zelaya denounced on his social media that foreigners of Jewish origin sent threats to his personal chat, at the same time that he reported that he will give a press conference proving his victory.

“It is not with threats that will intimidate us or make us give up our country struggle. We will not accept candidacies imposed from organized crime in PLH.
Today, at 11:30 AM, we will give a press conference with events demonstrating the victory of the Liberal Party, ”the Liberal aspirant wrote.

Yani claims victory

Pre-candidate Yani Rosenthal has said forcefully that he emerged victorious from Sunday’s primary election. Although the CNE does not provide official results, Rosenthal believes that it was imposed by a wide margin on Luis Zelaya.

“We won forcefully, now we are going to unite the Liberal Party and the opposition. Liberal brothers are welcome, we need each of you to rebuild the party,” the businessman and liberal aspirant to the presidency posted on his social media of Honduras.
