SANTA BARBARA, Honduras.- In the middle of a bush were found the lifeless bodies of a couple who had been abducted since last Monday in the community of La Porta, San Marcos, Santa Bárbara, western Honduras.
The couple were wanted by authorities and their relatives in the area, where days earlier they found the motorcycle they were supposed to be traveling in when they disappeared.

However, it was not until this morning that the corpses of José Abraham Gómez (24) and Glenda Licona (30) were located in the mountainous sector.
The couple’s bodies were upside down and only a few feet apart; apparently they would have been executed on the spot.
It was also reported that the brother of one of the victims was also reported missing, however, this information has not yet been confirmed by authorities.
The bodies of the couple were removed from the sector and taken to the morgue where they will undergo a forensic autopsy to determine when and how they were killed.

During 2020, the Santa Barbara department recorded 158 violent deaths, accounting for 4.5 percent of homicides in Honduras.
The first half of 2021 in the country closed with 1, 875, which means an increased 16.2% in the first six months of the year compared to the same period in 2020.
The data shared by the National Police show that in this time period, 261 more people were killed during January to June 2021. June closed with 372 violent deaths.
