“He is saying that Republican leaders spend more time focusing on an imaginary alliance than exposing and condemning the QAnon conspiracies that members of their own group spread,” the statement added, an apparent reference to Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.).

In addition to promoting the far-right QAnon conspiracy theory, Greene has supported claims that various school shootings and 9/11 attacks were organized and has repeatedly supported the allegations. Trump’s unfounded claims that the 2020 elections were rigged.

At his rally on Thursday, Gaetz called Cheney part of a “privileged club” that “wants[s] to turn our government into its default setting, to enrich them, to make them more powerful at our expense, but we can stop and start right here in Wyoming. ”

Two other GOP congressmen, Representatives Andy Biggs (Ariz.) And Matt Rosendale (Mont.), Are taking the initiative in a resolution calling on Cheney to step down as Speaker of the House Republican Conference.
