The current American champions are visiting Caracas this Thursday.

Lionel Messi finally won a title with the Argentina national team, winning the Copa America this year in Brazil, and the now star of Paris Saint-Germain has always inspired respect among his rivals.

The mess for Messi is that this respect is not always reflected in the treatment he receives on the court and sometimes rivals resort to violence to try to stop him.

One of those cases happened this Thursday, in the match in which his team faces Venezuela. In the 32nd minute, Adrián Martínez nailed a violent kick.

Martínez had just entered the track in place of the injured José Manuel Velázquez. The referee showed Uruguay’s Leodán González the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge.

Messi, meanwhile, miraculously survived a healing injury and managed to stay in the game.
