“We have a trade” …
Lions GM Brad Holmes ends a trade to aggressively land the quarterback of the future in Detroit. With a query from Dolphins Wire editor Kyle Crabbs, we made the following agreement:
The Lions change the No. 7 overall, the No. 101 overall (the third round acquired to the Rams) and a selection from the first round of 2022 (whichever is higher, the Lions own or the Rams) to Miami for the number 3 of the general and the election of the seventh round of Miami at No. 231 (acquired in Houston).
He moves on to get Trey Lance, the early quarterback from the state of North Dakota with high potential but limited experience. Trevor Lawrence and Justin Fields were off the board. Lance lands in Detroit, where he has time to learn and develop behind Jared Goff for a year (or two) without being thrown into the fight before he’s ready.
And because you want to know … Miami occupies Kyle Pitts (favorite) or Ja’Marr Chase at number 7.
