Liquor licenses, permits from 5 additional Michigan companies suspended for breaching COVID order

DETROIT – On Tuesday, the Michigan Liquor Control Commission suspended liquor licenses and permits for five additional companies.

The state agency noted that action was taken against companies to break the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services extended COVID restrictions.

Companies that violated the MDHHS command include Brooklyn’s in Wyandotte, Powell’s Pub in Ypsilanti, Mike’s Sports Page in Charlotte, Plymouth ROC Restaurant and the Sahara restaurant in Sterling Heights.

Companies are scheduled to appear before an administrative law judge on Dec. 30 for a virtual hearing to determine whether suspensions should be continued or other fines and penalties will be imposed.

“Licensees are strictly prohibited from allowing indoor meetings, as defined in the MDHHS Gatherings and Face Mask Order, at their licensed premises. In addition, these prohibited meetings held without patrons wearing face masks pose an immediate threat to the health, safety and well-being of the public. Letting this activity continue could create additional outbreaks of COVID-19, ”the state of Michigan said in a press release.

He continued, “Any licensed establishment that violates the MDHHS emergency order will be strictly liable and will result in the suspension or revocation of its license. All licensees must not only comply with the MDHHS Orders, but also the department’s orders. local health and local ordinances on reduced employment rates and social distancing protocols related to the COVID-19 pandemic ”.

The name of confirmed cases of coronavirus (COVID-19) in Michigan has risen to 483,922 as of Tuesday, including 12,282 deaths, state officials report.

Tuesday’s update includes 3,414 new cases and 193 additional deaths, including 105 for a Vital Record review.
