Service throughout the New Haven line and the Wassaic branch of the Harlem line will also be suspended.
“Metro-North territory is particularly vulnerable to strong winds due to trees and power lines,” Metro-North president Catherine Rinaldi said.
“We strongly advise customers to avoid unnecessary travel if possible. Our staff will work so that we can restore service to the far east once it is safe, ”said LIRR President Phil Eng.
Patrol trains will operate on the suspended part of the LIRR to assess damage, if it is safe to do so.
