LIVE: “Outside Bukele’s dictatorship,” thousands of Salvadorans march against the government

With banners and slogans, the marches came from different parts of Sant Salvador. In the early hours some protesters denounced blockade by the authorities.

From the early hours, protesters gathered at various checkpoints in San Salvador amid reports of blockades by authorities. On Roosevelt Street several trucks of the mayor of San Salvador closed the artery, while on the highway in Comalapa traffic officers were making stops, mostly minibuses and pick ups.

In the area of ​​the University of El Salvador, the allegations of blockade were more insistent. Protesters explained that a reptile in San Julian, Sonsonate, confiscated plates, traffic cards and licenses from a group that came to participate in the march.

In front of INDES, mostly war veterans gathered and started marching towards Plaza Morazán, in the center of the capital. The Agricultural Table Group also came to protest for the high cost of living and especially because they say they are not taken into account in the issue of agricultural products.

“It’s time to put a stop to it and that’s the way we can do it. He said it himself,” says Douglas Fonts, one of the Salvadorans who took to the streets to raise his voice against the Bitcoin Act. “I am unhappy with all government decisions,” he added.

For some massive days the calls to participate in the march had circulated on social media where unions of doctors, judges and teachers also announced their participation for this September 15 in which the country celebrates the bicentennial of national independence.

Dissatisfaction with the Bitcoin law and the unconstitutional measures taken since the new Legislative Assembly are the reasons that push Salvadorans to take to the streets to demand the government’s independence of powers and a cessation of human rights violations.
