LINCOLN, Nebraska (KOLN) -The Lincoln-Lancaster County Department of Health reported Friday an additional death from COVID-19. The death was a woman in her 60s hospitalized and unvaccinated. The total number of deaths is 267.
The LLCHD announced that 151 laboratory-confirmed cases of COVID-19 have been reported in Lancaster County, bringing the total community to 35,019.
Hospitalizations for COVID-19 positive patients: 88 with 62 from Lancaster County (5 with fans) and 26 from other communities (5 with fans)
Risk framework: medium orange, high risk of spread and impact of COVID-19 in the community
Targeted health measure: The current DHM is effective until September 30 and includes a mask warrant for all people 2 years of age or older, regardless of vaccination status. You can learn more about health measures and masks at lincoln.ne.gov/DHM and lincoln.ne.gov/mask.
Vaccines administered (the vaccination target is 75%):
- Initiated vaccines (first doses): 194,696
- Vaccines completed (second dose and J&J vaccine): 180,704
- Residents aged 16 and over who are fully vaccinated: 70.4%
Vaccines: The delta variant is driving the rapid rise in cases, hospitalizations and deaths in Lancaster County. All vaccinated people create the necessary protection for the community. The Lincoln-Lancaster County Department of Health (LLCHD) strongly urges everyone to be eligible for vaccination. Vaccination helps prevent serious illness, saves lives and slows the spread of the virus. Residents 12 years of age or older can receive the COVID-19 vaccine. Find a clinic near you at COVID19.lincoln.ne.gov. Walk-ins are welcome or make an appointment. Residents can also find a local pharmacy that offers vaccines at vaccines.gov or by sending a text message to their zip code at 438829.
