Los Angeles Dodgers change LHP Adam Kolarek, OF from Cody Thomas to Oakland A’s for IF Sheldon Neuse, RHP Gus Varland

LOS ANGELES – The Dodgers acquired infantryman Sheldon Neuse and right-wing minor league side Gus Varland from Oakland Athletics on Friday for left-hander Adam Kolarek and minor league champion Cody Thomas.

Neuse spent last season at alternate place in Oakland after playing 0.25 the previous year for A.D. Prior to his promotion in 2019, the 26-year-old coach hit .317, hit 27 homers and had 102 senior runs in 126 games.

Varland is a 2-2 combined with an effectiveness of 1.54 and 77 attacks in 18 minor league games, including 15 starters.

Kolarek made 20 appearances for the Dodgers last year, 3-0 with a 0.95 ERA and 13 tackles. He was 5-0 with a save in 46 games and an ERA of 0.88 in his Dodgers career. In four major league seasons, it is a combined 11-3 with an ERA of 3.32.

Thomas spent part of last season at the Dodgers alternate spot. In 2019, he hit 23 best home runs of the race and had 76 runs with Double-A Tulsa. In four minor league seasons, he has 81 homers and led in 278 runs with a batting average of .255.
