Louisiana man missing after alligator attack in water from Hurricane Ida floods

A Louisiana man went missing Monday after being attacked by an alligator inside his shed flooded by Hurricane Ida, according to a report.

The man’s wife, 71, witnessed the attack on the couple’s home in Slidell, WWL-TV reported, citing the parish sheriff’s office in St. Louis. . Tammany.

Located near Lake Pontchartrain, the family’s shed was under several feet of water caused by the hurricane’s waves, according to the report.

The woman heard a disturbance inside the shed and was able to initially rescue her husband, moving him away from the gator, deputies said.

With no telephone service or flooded streets, the woman used a boat to seek help, leaving her husband behind.

But when he returned, the man was nowhere to be found.

Ida ravaged the area with fierce winds and heavy rains after it touched down on Sunday. Two confirmed deaths in the state have been blamed for the storm.
