In July last year, Pixar surprised on Twitter after announcing its upcoming project called “Luca”. This new animated film will focus on the protagonist named Luca, who lives an unforgettable summer in the coastal city of the Italian Riviera.
“Luca” will tell the story of a boy, who shares his adventures with his new and newly discovered best friend. However, the fun is threatened when they both become sea creatures.
The new animated film plans to release in the middle of this year and will be directed by Enrico Casarosa who will make his feature film debut for the first time. Casarosa has already done productions before such as “The Moon”, an animated short nominated for an Oscar in 2012.
In this new Pixar production, the director has stated that the story is based on his own childhood experiences in Italy. In this way, it will be a film dedicated to Italy in which the central theme will be friendship. Also, the production will be in charge of Andrea Warren who has previously worked on “Cars 3”, “Monsters, SA” and “Beasts, a miniature adventure”.
